In contrast, Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane’s biggest rival, uses lookup tables to determine flight drag and lift. This provides a realistic flying experience and makes aircraft development simpler and faster. X-Plane’s exclusive flight dynamics model, called “blade element theory,” evaluates the forces on multiple sections of the aircraft’s surface, providing a constant and reliable prediction of how it will react to those forces. Now you can start to do the other missions at Camp Icarus, Nus Lull, CDF outpost, Swamp Camp and North Swamp Camp and head to Port Atlantis to do your second tutorial. This is a bit of a handful for new players so ask someone if they will heal you and as it has 100 hp the rocket launcher is really useful compared to your other starter weapons. The first 2 parts are simple kill and loot mobs on low HP mobs, the final part is kill one starving Atrax. ![]() This is a 3 part mission for a repairable rifle. This is a TEAM instance dungeon so ask in Local chat for a team. Instead head up to the camp and find the Gauntlet Organiser NPC. Here we recommend that you make a slight diversion from the story line first. You appear on the beach near an NPC called Sergeant Saana, who needs you to kill 5 low level mobs and once you have killed them he sends you up to the camp to report to Captain Hayes. If you have chosen Calypso as the starting planet we would recomend you select Camp Icarus. You will also find a terminal that allows you to skip tutorial, this we can not advise you doing as you will not get your starter vehicle, rifle, rocket launcher (HINT save this for the last part of Bukins mission at Camp Icarus), ammo for both, starter FAP (that is a healing tool) and starter mining gear. Once you exit Genesis to Thule you will find a weapon instructor NPC who will give you your first weapon and a small amount of ammo. You can pay other players to make changes in hair and body build (no sex changes though). WARNING once you leave this area and exit to Thule you can not change your look or avatar name for free. Raster graphics often come in at a premium performance “cost” via larger file sizes, resolution-dependency, and other downfalls. On the other hand, oil paints, like rasters, are a top pick for capturing the minute details, superb color blends, and textured brush strokes that leave us in awe of the artist’s talent – but they both come at a high-cost (literally and figuratively). Like acrylics and gouache paint, vectors are amazing in terms of versatility, as you can fine tune them to suit your artistic vision, with a pinch of compromise on the finer details. Think of choosing between vector vs raster like deciding which paint medium to use for your next masterpiece. ![]() In fact, when it comes to web performance, there’s a long list of reasons why you should use scalable vector graphics! By SVGator Raster Graphics vs Vector Graphics: The Differences Vectors can help you create performance-friendly UI design elements, infinitely scalable logos, or lightning-fast-loading explainer animations at a fraction of the cost of raster video production. They are resolution-independent – you can resize vector graphics without quality loss or risk of visual artifacts. Vector images aren’t pixel-based, which means they aren’t constrained when it comes to resizing. ![]() Vector graphics are generated using mathematical formulas that translate into points, lines, and curves aligned on a grid. Photo by Randy Fath on Unsplash What Are Vector Graphics? This is a significant factor that tips the “raster art vs vector art” scale in favor of vector graphics when it comes to the digitalverse. The number of pixels in any raster graphic is fixed, which means any attempt to resize/scale up will result in distortions and/or a blurry visual, as the system cannot create extra pixels out of thin air. The detailed nature of pixel-based graphics that makes breathtaking visuals possible is the same reason that they’re not a top choice in terms of scalability, web performance, and by extension, versatility. The web is immersed in raster visuals, from stunning landscapes captured in the wilderness to digital realities brush-stroked into existence. Video recordings, digital product photography, complex graphics, and any visuals created using pixel-based software are all ultimately raster files. Each pixel will translate into an area of illumination on a display screen, and its color will be dictated by the color code it’s assigned. Raster graphics are composed of a rectangular array of regularly sampled values, aka pixels. Let’s get right into it! What Are Raster Graphics? Similarly, Quill’s new weapons and abilities don’t feel like they are used to the full extent that they could have been. But while the reveal of the villain is well done, you don’t see much of them until the very end of the game. The initial pacing feels nigh perfect, as the main villain isn’t even introduced until what felt like about the halfway point through the game (roughly in the third of six total chapters). Now, I don’t want to give away plot points, so I won’t be specific when I say that the story feels like it was a bit rushed. It’s gorgeous, always sets the mood perfectly, and often had me pausing just to listen and admire the work put into it. There are many good soundtracks out there, but few are as emotionally charged and on-time as this one. Lastly, I just want to praise the soundtrack in the game. Everything from the situation to the animations, the attack patterns, and the way Quill eventually defeats said boss is mesmerizing. ![]() In fact, one boss that you’ll fight in chapter five is one of the best boss encounters I’ve experienced in recent memory. Those new powers and weapons also help change up the combat quite a bit. It’s not quite as deep or intricate as something like Metroid Dread, but it’s a step toward that direction. Both the new weapons and new powers Quill receives over the game make Book II feel more like a Metroidvania than a simple action platformer. Moss: Book II’s new larger, more detailed environments are also a welcome addition to the formula of the first game. This almost always resulted in Quill falling off a ledge or into some water, leaving me smacking my forehead (if I could reach it behind the PSVR headset) and reminding myself that I was the Reader, not Quill. Everything from smashing crates to helping Quill solve intricate environmental puzzles is possible and feels entirely natural from a story standpoint.Įvery once in a while, I found myself getting a bit confused when moving enemies or puzzle pieces around the level, as I’d accidentally try to move them with the thumb stick instead of physically moving them with the DualShock 4 controller. ![]() As a Reader, your DualShock 4 controller is presented as a blue bubble which can be used to interact with most things in the game world by pressing and holding the trigger buttons. My son watched me play the entirety of Moss: Book II and was glued to the couch as we followed Quill through each of the six chapters of the story. It felt like something out of a young adult fiction book which, truth be told, is probably still my favorite genre of books to read even as a near 37-year-old because of their ability to appeal to such a wide range of ages. I, too, loved the entire story in Moss: Book II. You won’t truly understand how it feels until you’re transported through space and time the moment you put the PSVR’s headset on. As is usually the case with VR titles, watching videos of Moss: Book II will only give you a vague idea of what the experience is like. Part and parcel to that experience are the environments and the animations, all of which help transport you to this fabled storybook world in a way that a flat screen simply doesn’t allow.
